    Since it has been over a year since I started doing some research on Dads collection, I have found that there is a huge amount of knowledge and experience among collectors. I make a distinction between knowledge and experience, they are not the same things.

    It is often said that experience is the best teacher, its lessons stick with us more than the knowledge we glean from books, it is a hard teacher, its lessons can cost us money, time and can be frustrating.

  3. One year past.

    It has been one year since I got the bad news. I had worked all day and after work I had stopped off at the bank, and then went to the local watering hole and had a beer, a friendly acquaintance met me there and we talked about the local teams work and I went home. When I got home I was told that my dad had suffered a stroke and was up at the hospital.

    Back in ancient Greece, one of the most esteemed politicians, a rhetorician, took the election by promising fairness, those who were on hard times and wanted some changes made voted for him, those who were doing well voted for him, those with grudges voted for him and those who were satisfied voted for him.   5. Second Coin Show

    For some time I have been looking forward to the biannual coin show, held at the Holiday Inn in Rockford, (a short drive) and today it finally came. I had been saving for this one. The last month I have limited my coin collecting activities to buying and searching rolls of cents.
